On April 19th, we
hosted our annual Spring Farm Day, Were You Here ? ..
07/04/08 -
HAPPY
FOURTH
!!!!
07/03/08 - Tomorrow
- The Fourth of July!!!!
With all of the travel we had
last week I am just realizing that it is July.
Lil and I went on vacation last week - We headed off on Wednesday and stopped
off in Lexington, Ky. to visit several
places we have always wanted to see. First the Horse Park, and the memorials for
Man O War and Secretariat Then we
stopped at Keeneland Race Track and breezed by Calumet Farms. Very Impressive!!
The rest of
the week we spent at the big Liquidation Sale at Twin Lakes Llama Ranch. We had
a great time - thanks to Mark
& Karen Brant. They treated everyone that attended very special.. And Thank
you to Gary & Janet Brant for their
hospitality as well.
And Finally, on Sunday, we came home with new additions to our Peruvian herd of
females. See Our Females ..
And this
week it is catch up on all of the "stuff" left undone as a result of
taking a week's vacation. But it was all worth it..
06/19/08 - It
has been wonderful the last two nights - down into the lo 60's at night, we even
slept with all of
the windows open last night. Beautiful night - Full moon shining in and whippoorwills
singing the whole night through.
So peaceful.. And this week Alex, our Grandson, is back visiting for
one week.
If anyone remembers last year - Alex's Big Adventure
?? Well he's back for a first week of his summer vacation,
doing all of the llama stuff he did last year. And this year he has made great
new friendships with KRM RA, &
Star Point Blank. It is so much fun to watch, as he goes up to these big
tall males - they look down to see who is there,
recognizes Alex and then just stand as he rubs their backs and grooms hay out of
their manes.
Here is a picture from yesterday as Alex and I fix a faucet on the wash rack.
06/12/08 - ..Lil
was out this afternoon clicking pictures and got some NEW shots of our
youngsters as they are
growing up. Our boys are playing boy games, and our little girl, Ballerina
Rose doesn't even care about being a toughy,
just wants to be "A
Pretty Face". See SPRING '08 CRIA.
06/06/08 - ..We
are into our summer schedule of yearly baths, and our 2nd round of shearings.
Now is the time for some
of the adults
to get a complete body shearing. This year Chiquita Banana and Bronce's Miss Tea
were the lucky ones -
this is the first time that they have had all of their neck wool removed and
they love it. Nothing to drag them down and a
whole lot cooler.
..We had hoped we wouldn't have to face another episode like we did last
August when temperatures were so very
hot and absolutely no rain. But here we are - just one week into June and
already we are right back there. All of this
week we have hovered around 92 - 97 degrees every day and no rain in sight.
Everything is rapidly drying out. Yes, we
are hoping for a change.... But the fans are running.. and at both barns
all of the llamas, including the babies, are getting
into their summer time mode - by Noon head on into the barn and cool down in
your favorite spot by a fan.
05/28/08 - Here
we are fast approaching June and wondering where Spring went and did we have a
good time while there..
Well, we did - new babies were born, the weather was spectacular - and we
enjoyed being with our llamas.
This past week end, we trucked on up to White Pine, Tn. for the last show of the
Spring season. Our two girls that haven't
been out there on the show circuit before made us very proud.
Northwest Georgie Girl ( GiGi) took 1st place for her
class in Suri Female. She really looked great.
And then Ruru ---- Ruru has been very busy all during the time when she should
have been out there showing herself off -----
having babies.
Well, she had her 2nd son, BladeRunner, and Lil & I promised her after that
she would get her time showing. And she did - -
Two shows
- Grand Champion
Medium Wool Female
and Reserve
Champion Medium Wool Female.
We love you RURU!!!!!

05/09/08 - OK
- for the Spring'08 season we have our last Emperor baby. Chiquita finally
decided to give birth -
She averages about 10 - 19 days over with all of her babies, so this one was
right in line - 19 days over.
Go to 2008 cria to get a look..
05/04/08 - Well
as it stands right now - our Star Braided Emperor's offspring are 4 strong and
just waiting for "1 more"
04/30/08 - It
always clicks back to cool weather for this week of April - and we have cool
weather again - yesterday
and today lo 60's and lo 40's at night Very Comfortable for all!!
Well, after holding on for 9 days overdue, Phuru finally delivered her baby two days ago - a beautiful female, over
30 lbs
at birth, quite tall & blonde with gray and rosy hues. Her name -
Ballerina Rose KRM
And we still wait for Chiquita Banana to join the group of new Moms - she is
into her second week of overdue condition.
But she seems very comfortable as she grazes on new green grass, always
with her daughter, Scheherazade at her side.
04/21/08 - It
has been a busy bunch of days here- First............. on the 14th,
Bronce's Miss
Tea had her baby, Braided
Emperor's 2nd son,
Royal Tea KRM . And
through out it all we were getting everything
set for the upcoming Farm Day.
Then on the next day, the 15th, Lil figured it was safe to shoot on into town
around noon time to get all of her errands taken
care of - Wrong!! A little after
noon, I looked out in the pasture and HCLR Truffles was beginning delivery. So, off I go
to help Truffles deliver Braided Emperor's 3rd son
Espresso KRM. Both of these boys are just as good as his
first son -
The First Emperor KRM. All are quite different looking, reflecting their Mom's influence on the whole thing,
but we think
we have hit better than 3 of a kind - we think we
have a real Full House. We still are expecting two more Emperor offspring
and it probably will be tomorrow or the next day since both girls are 2-4 days
over due.
And then this week end - on Saturday we held our annual Farm Day. To
see a pictorial of the days events, click here....
04/12/08 - We
are getting things shaped up around here for our Farm Day next Saturday, the
19th.
Looking for a good crowd of llama folks............ As part of it - lasting
till May, Lil & I decided to include a Spring Farm Day
pricing on several of our Peruvians - Check out the listing - Farm
Day Sale Prices and maybe you
will be interested in adding
something new to your llama family.
04/09/08 - Things
are getting back to normal for us. The last week was a whirlwind - I left last Wednesday night around
11:30 PM for Oklahoma City, hoping to slide through Arkansas before the severe
weather hit, and almost missed it all. But
the worst of it came thru as I made it to Roland, Oklahoma to stop for the
night.
Lil stayed home to watch over our "anyday now" females (as it was not one delivered while I was gone).
Delivered BladeRunner to his new owner, and then wandered around the Celebrity
barns looking at all of the beautiful llamas,
and visiting with old & new friends, all day Friday thru Sunday. Sale time
came and went and I came home with a new suri girl
that is absolutely
beautiful.
Welcome to Kent Rock Meadows to Northwest
Georgie Girl

03/24/08 - It
was a beautiful Easter Sunday - We spent most of the day here just
enjoying the day.
I did take
quite a few pictures since the weather was so fine. New picures of KRM
Hot Leggs and our newest boy,
The First Emperor KRM.
We Hope your Easter was as spectacular as ours.
03/16/08 - This
has been a wild week end for the North Georgia area. First Atlanta got hit by a
tornado - Right downtown!!
and then yesterday - all day - everyone was watching the weather, wondering when
and where the next storm would hit -
As it was, we were very fortunate out here. We had a brief period of high winds
and some rain, while a lot of other counties
were hit over and over with high winds, hail and a lot of rain.
And today -
A beautiful day - sunny and lo 60's.
03/08/08 - SPRINGTIME
- and for Spring - we are discounting two of our great males - Take a look - For
a VERY
small price - either of two GREAT Peruvian Herdsires. OR BOTH!!!!
03/04/08 - Well
the end of the day got real interesting - The weather was looking a little
strange around 5:45 ,
and I turned on the weather report to see what was taking place with the storm -
- There was a tornado warning and the
weather center could see rotation on the radar heading to Greensboro >>
Washington >> Tignall and >> Sandtown - all in a line
toward us. As it approached, I captured the storm in pictures from the back porch as it
moved quickly over us. Thankfully the
tornado warning was cancelled ten minutes later but the intensity was still very
impressive - High Winds, Driving Rain, and
nickel size hail beating on the house.

White marks is the hail falling
Looks like night time but still only 6:20PM |
03/04/08 - Tuesday,
and it seems to be an inside kinda day - Rain started around 11A and is now a
steady downpour.
Forecast is for wild weather the rest of the day, but so far just steady rain. I
had to walk down to the female barn to
check on a couple of the ladies, especially Phuru, who is very uncomfortable now
and just laying around. She isn't due until
next month, but I guess the baby is causing a lot of discomfort. Anyways, I made
her and her friend Ruru, who is always
with her come on inside of the big female barn - much drier than laying out in
the down pour.
This week
end we had a great time at the SSLA Spring Show - Halter judging was on Sunday
and weather was
beautiful (mid 70's), And our llamas did us proud once more - Star Braided
Emperor - another two Grand Champion
Suri Male awards, a Best of Show trophy, and with that has earned his Halter
Champion status.
Star Sunfire - did her bit as well taking two Grand Champion Suri Female
awards.
02/29/08 - Are
you ready to do more with that fiber that is accumulating in the house
Lillian is selling a loom and loom stand.
02/25/08 - I
was up early just before sunrise wandering around the farm, and it is always
beautiful to watch the
sun come up and to see the llamas wake up and go through
their morning ritual - stretching, itching, and just re-awaken.
And this morning it was a little cool, and very moist with lots of fog.
The Sun is rising |
Looking from the house down toward the
barns,
No one is moving........... |
|

And here is a little guy just waking up....
cold,
and not really ready to get about.
|
Twenty minutes later - The sun had chased away the fog and it started another
wonderful day.
02/18/08
- We had
a great time in Florida this past week end. Attended the Florida Open Llama
Show
in Ocala, Fla. We were treated to an enjoyable show and beautiful weather
-
Thank You to the Florida people for a wonderful time.
And our llamas made us very proud - The Braided Emperor continues to
impress us with his abilities.
He placed Grand Champion Suri Male with both judges and also took Best of Show.
Our other fantastic male Point Blank stood beside the Emperor as Reserve
Grand Champion Suri Male with both judges.
And Star Sunfire placed Grand Champion Suri Female with one judge and
Reserve Champion Suri Female with the other judge.
We are so very pleased with their continued performance.
AND, here's a picture taken this morning of Emperor's new son - laying in
the sun (6 days old).
02/13/08
- Last
February this time we brought home a new herd sire Star Braided Emperor.
AND, This year we have been anxiously awaiting the birth of his first cria.
Peruvian Tamara (see picture below) has kept us on alert as she went 11 days
over her expected due date.
But Lil & I knew she was just making sure everything was done just
right.
So, yesterday, I had to go in to Atlanta for the day & Lil stayed home
with
our expectant mom.
About 10AM, a very
nice birth of a beautiful Emperor son. Healthy and 29 lbs.
Mom & day old
son..

01/23/08
- This
morning as we finished feeding all, I thought I would get a couple of
pictures
of a couple of our pregnant girls - Here they are, getting bigger
everyday...
Peruvian Tamara - February 2nd due date |
Phuru - April due date |
|

Bronce's Miss Tea - April due date |
01/18/08
- Our
girl, Peruvian Caramello never moved all day yesterday except to get up and eat.
She must have really
gotten cold with the sleet. But this morning - she was up eating hay outside at
the hay shelter and more or less back to normal
with the rest of the herd.
01/17/08
- The
predictions for last night were for a possibility of freezing rain and sleet,
So, about 7PM sure enough
it started sleeting, and by 8:00 there
was about a 1/2 inch of frozen sleet on everything. Wondering if all of our
expectant
moms had made it into the barn, we headed on down to check everything out.
All seemed to be inside of the barn, but to make
sure we did a quick head count and sure enough someone was missing. So back out
to the pastures & the freezing rain....
And way down in one corner was Peruvian Caramello,
our senior citizen ( 17 years old), covered with ice and unaware that
all of the others had quickly ran to cover at the barn. And now with the sleet
& wind, she was hunkered down, and refusing to
move. This wasn't such a good idea, and this beautiful old gal needed to be high
and dry, so we got her up and made sure she got
to the barn and found a dry stall to spend the night. Good Thing, because during
the night there was quite a bit more ice and
then up to 1 1/2 inches of cold rain. Caramello certainly wouldn't have faired
well in those conditions. And early this morning
around 7:30 I went down and checked on her and she was still cushed in a stall
where we left her last night - safe and dry..
01/12/08
-
Looking out of our windows here at the farm, we are daily
presented with
unbelievable displays of beautiful Georgia mornings and Georgia evenings.
|

Sunset - It was there for a brief 10 minutes
& then disappeared.. |
01/07/08
- Spectacular
morning this morning. With this warmer weather coming in from the gulf, bringing
a little more
moisture, - the fog rolls in during the early morning hours and when the sun comes up
-
What a sight. Here are two pictures at sun up this morning.

01/06/08
- Happy
New Year 2008 !! A beautiful start to a new year. This past week it really
seemed a whole lot like
WINTER>>>
Brrrrr.. Mid
week we went down to 15 degrees one night and then the 2nd night it was 24 - Yes
that
is our winter.
But today, quite a bit warmer. This morning I was out cleaning up around the
female's barn and Lil was grooming a couple of
the girls , and it was really a
beautiful Sunday morning - Sunny & 50 degrees.
I have a couple of water lines in the male barn that need fixing and I have got
to patch the roof on their
barn as well - seems there was a slight leak with the
last rains we had. Just some typical yearly catch up jobs...
Our young boy -BladeRunner is eating grain, and wondering why he
never tried that before And he is growing fast..
We are looking
forward to the next few months, In February we hope to have The Braided
Emperor's FIRST offspring born,
Peruvian Tamara is looking "large".
And then a couple of halter shows will be coming up soon after that. And in
April we have
our Farm Day scheduled. Very
soon I hope to have some information on here regarding the details. Lil and I
hope you will
plan on coming over for the day.
