KRM NEWS -2010

12/29/2010   - Wednesday -   Can you believe it ?  By the end of the week we will be into the year 2011.... Does anyone remember all of the
upheaval as we approached Y2K!!!  It was crazy - Nothing was going to survive   All computers and anything remotely associated was going to CRASH!!

But we survived and now are beginning a new decade.  Amazing.

Oh well, on a lighter note - We returned yesterday from our latest trip to the beach.
Spent the Christmas week there and it was pretty nice - A little cool but it is December...

It is always so enjoyable to get away and do just Beach Stuff..

And watching the beauty of the ocean and the beach at any time is breathtaking.

12/19/2010   - Saturday -   Here we are - just a week away from Christmas. And everyone is going crazy with shopping, etc...

Maybe we need to just take a breath , cool off a little and think of Christmas and what it really is ..
It is Christmas, It isn't shopping, It isn't TV programs, It isn't fancy foods, It isn't new electronic gifts.
It is the birth of "A Child".
We need to remember what we are celebrating.
It is the birth of Jesus Christ.

Merry Christmas to all of our friends and acquaintances.

12/11/2010   - Saturday -   Uh Hello!  I think we are going into a new ice age..  Not even 2nd week of December and we have had night
after night of 20 degrees or colder. Boy Howdy - It's Winter...
Even the llamas are shocked, since we have had such a mild Fall staying in the upper 70's for so long. Every morning I get on down to the barn
around 7:30 AM and they are all squeezed together under the Hay Shelter.  But it was a nice aftenoon today getting up to around 45 -50. I liked it!

Closing in on Christmas, has everyone got there shopping done??

12/08/2010   - Wednesday - IT IS COLD !!!!!!   This morning 20 degrees and it hasn't gone above freezing yet and it's 1:30 in the afternoon.

We put a propane stove in the house for these cold days and nights, and it has been keeping things snuggy in the main room at night. Really is
comfortable.

Then, down in the barn office an electric floor heater is going to keep water lines open and to keep our kitty Jade warm at night. She loves it
as she curls up in front of it on a pad.

And then in the bunkhouse /cottage another propane heater going to keep all faucets and such from freezing.

And we got the heated water buckets out last night and filled up those for all of the llamas. And Lil put down a thick bedding of hay inside of the
girl's barn for Peruvian Caramelo (she's our old gal, 21+ years old). She usually comes in to the barn at night to sleep.

SO, I guess we are heated up, seeing as how it is supposed to be like this right thru next week..

12/04/2010   - Saturday - Well, I guess we should have expected it ---  With the 1st of December came cold weather. Frost every morning and
next week by Wednesday we are supposed to be below 20 degrees for overnight temps. Not looking forward to that stuff..

I have been chain sawing limbs that fell on fence line out back of house. A whole truckload of firewood and then some.   Also getting some of the fields cleaned.
Not as much to clean now with only 6 females out there. What a change ..

The weather takes some getting used to - Lil & I had to dig out our winter jackets and gloves. Sure not T-Shirt weather anymore.

Here's a pic of the front pasture this forenoon, with the girls out there grazing. There's still a lot of green grass that they are feeding on.

11/25/2010   - Thanksgiving Thursday - To all of our friends - We wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving and hope all is well with you
as you enjoy the holiday with your friends and family.  Hope to see you soon.

11/10/2010   - Wednesday - BUsy Busy Busy around here since I last posted something - Last week end we went to Atlanta for the week end and enjoyment.
We did some fun things there and took in the Salvador Dali exhibit at the High Museum -    It was worth the trip..

This week making the most of the weather  Oh Yeah Forgot -   While in Atlanta  - On Friday it was snowing.....  Unbelievable.

Well anyway, this week making the most of it - The weather is perfect 75 - 78 during the days so far,  so we're working on outdoor stuff like painting, fixing, etc..
AND, all of the llamas are getting their Fall bathes & grooming. Today
Peruvian Caramello and Wyllow were bathed and they just loved it.
Tomorrow
Star Point Blank gets a "wash & wax". Another one that loves to be cared for..  He always makes sure every evening that he gets his special time
with us, standing for some hands on  and back rubs.

Here are a couple of great pics of Lil's rose bushes out at back porch - They never quit blooming - Spring to Fall.. Pics taken today the 10th..

10/28/2010   - Wednesday - Did you see that weather that blasted through the country this week?? !!  Well it finally got to us
After the wild temperatures ( 80+) and the humidity you just knew it was possible for some bad weather..  And  we were under a
tornado watch for much of the day - And then late afternoon around 5PM the forecast was for a tornado watch right right here in  Lincoln County.

Lil went out on the back porch to see what all was happening and as I went out there ( It was beginning to get real dark out and the wind dropped off to nuthin' )
I immediately went back and got my camera and here is what we saw coming toward us from the northwest. And the wind picked up really strong!!!!!!!!!!!

It went by our house , sort of dissipated, and then over the lake remade itself as we watched it gradually move off to the southeast.  IMPRESSIVE!

The rest of the night was high winds, thunder, lightning, and a whole lot of rain......

10/22/2010   - Friday - A while since any news here.  This morning around 7AM it's still dark outside, and a bit of a quandary trying to get used to that.
The days are so nice now - Fall is my favorite season - cool at night and back into the 70's by day time. Yesterday we went on in to town and bought a
new propane stove for the house to keep those cold mornings a bit more toasty when you get up.
A couple of week ends ago Lil & I went on up to Black Mountain NC to spend it with Karen and her family. We had such a great time, and here is a picture
of just one of the fun things we did - Sunday afternoon - Spent a few hours at Alex's soccer game - He enjoys soccer so much and is really good at it.
It was a picture perfect day up there in the Smokies, outskirts of Asheville.

That's Lil on the left, and then Karen and Alex.

Walking to the soccer field..

10/07/2010   - Thursday - It has been a busy week this past one - And big changes around here. Just since last week end's regional show some of
our top llamas either have moved to new homes or will be very soon.
Peruvian Keep It Sirius (KIS) left the regionals with a new owner. And next week end we will be delivering Cinnamon Suri KRM to a new owner. And
this afternoon Star Braided Emperor left our ranch for good. He has done so much for us both in the show ring and at the ranch. And now he has started a
new chapter in his Suri Life.

10/06/2010   - Wednesday - What a beautiful week end this past one - We were at the Regional Show and weather and everything cooperated.

Both KIS & Cinnamon Suri placed well  - Cinnamon took 2nd out of 5 in her class and then placed 5th of top five for Suri Females,  KIS placed 1st
in her class and 4th of top 5 in Suri Females.
We saw RA showing with his new owner - Chloe and what a pair - after only 1 & a half weeks together they looked like they had been showing for a long time.

09/29/2010   - Wednesday -  It's like a big switch was thrown last Sunday - From 90's to mid to high 70's everyday now. And we have had a little
over 4 inches of rain since then. We have arrived at "Fall".

This week we have been arranging and loading the trailer for this coming week end - Heading on up to the South Eastern Regionals. And looks like a good
weather weekend ahead. Intend on having a real fun time with old and new friends. Maybe we'll see you there?

09/23/2010   - Thursday - We are counting the days - literally - toward Sunday when we are supposed to brake this wearisome heat period.

Augusta has recorded 115+ above 90 degree days this year (A new record )....   And it will be the same for two more days, just this month......................................

09/10/2010   - Friday - Hope everyone had a fantastic labor day holiday and all. Could have used some rain - it is drier than a soda cracker around here..

We just pulled in here at the farm last night late and all was just fine - We have been down at the beach this past week and it was so restful down there -
That is after the huge crowd left Monday night - All went back to home and to start school I guess.
Anyway we enjoyed the beach walks, swimming, etc.

This morning all of the llamas were vying for attention - Are they spoiled or what..?  But that's the way we love it - Everyone of the girls was looking for some
grooming and wanting to be fussed over - even Carmello who usually just wants to be left alone.
