Delivery of KRM Stonewall Jackson

    This is a sequence of photos which shows what goes on at the birth of a cria. All of this occurred in about an hour's time, beginning at 10:15 A.M.. So you can see that from birth, to being able to get up and walk happens very quickly. This is nature's way of protecting the new born cria and allowing it to survive and be able to find its mother and nurse..

1.  Cria just after being delivered. 
2.  Notice the membrane which is attached to cria. 
3.  Cria still has membrane attached, but the sun is evaporating it.

4. Cria is beginning to move and trying to get up. 
5. Dipping umbilical cord with 0.5% Nolvasan. It is safer  and more      effective than Iodine in killing bacteria.    
6. Cria just before he gets up. A strand of the membrane can be seen attached to his leg.
