Delivery of KRM Peruvian Notorious

This is a sequence of photos which shows the birth of a cria. All this occurred in about an hour's time. So you can see that from birth, to being able to get up and walk happens very quickly. This is nature's way of protecting the new born cria and allowing it to survive and be able to find its mother and nurse..
Picture #:
1. The head and two front legs just begin to appear. The two front legs presented themselves above the head which is really a normal delivery. This is called a slight variant. ( more normal and more common delivery is a presentation with the head laying dorsal to the extended legs, slightly above or between the legs.)
2.The cria is rotated and the legs and head begin to emerge further out. Notice head over to the right.
3. Cria just delivered and lying on the ground.

8. Five hours later in his room after standing and nursing several times he is laying down and sleeping. I returned to find a baby squirrel laying on his back trying to stay warm. It was a very windy day, and he had fallen out of his nest. A couple of hours later the mother squirrel arrived and carried him off.
